Distributor Partnership — Answered.
Straight answers to the questions we hear most from distributor applicants and their commercial teams.
What documents are required when applying for a Laborate distributorship?
The standard application requires: a copy of your pharmaceutical wholesale/distribution licence (Form 20/21 or state equivalent), GST registration certificate, business registration or incorporation certificate, proof of storage infrastructure (warehouse photographs and temperature logs), list of current brands and manufacturers you represent, and two trade references. Financial statements for the last two years may be requested during the verification stage.
How long does the onboarding process take from application to first order?
For straightforward applications with complete documentation, the standard onboarding timeline is 3–4 weeks from receipt of application to first order processing. This covers licence verification (Days 2–7), a business discussion with your regional manager (Week 2), agreement execution (Week 3), and product training and account setup (Week 4). Incomplete applications or additional verification requirements may extend this timeline.
What are the minimum order requirements and payment terms for distributors?
Minimum order values and credit terms are set based on territory size, business volume, and product category. Standard payment terms range from advance payment to 30-day credit for established partners, with longer terms available for high-volume accounts following credit approval. Specific MOQ and credit details are discussed and agreed during the commercial terms negotiation phase of onboarding.
How does Laborate assign territories — and can a distributor hold exclusive rights?
Laborate assigns territories based on distributor capability, market potential, existing coverage, and strategic business priorities. Both exclusive and non-exclusive arrangements are available depending on the territory, product category, and volume commitments. Exclusive territory rights require agreed minimum volume commitments, documented field coverage, and periodic business reviews. Territory parameters are defined in the distributor agreement.
What ongoing field and commercial support does Laborate provide to distributors?
Ongoing support includes: a named Key Account Manager as your single point of contact, co-branded marketing materials and visual aids, quarterly territory business reviews, joint field visits with Laborate's BDM team, product and therapy training for your field force, new product launch support packages, access to medical information and pharmacovigilance teams, and priority supply during peak demand periods.
Can an existing multi-brand stockist apply for a direct distributor relationship with Laborate?
Yes. Existing pharmaceutical stockists and super stockists who currently carry competing or complementary brands are welcome to apply. Carrying other manufacturers' brands does not disqualify an applicant — we evaluate territory fit, business capability, and alignment with Laborate's product range. For territories where an exclusive distributor agreement is in place, applicants may be offered the stockist or sub-stockist role within the existing distribution structure.
